Unlike the other sections, the CARS section requires no specific content knowledge. It tests your abilities in reading comprehension, critical thinking and analysis, reasoning and problem-solving.
The CARS section's passages are based entirely on two principles: humanities and social sciences. There are five question types: main idea, inference, analysis of evidence, implication, and tone. Each passage will test your level of understanding, whether you can follow the author’s line of thought, and whether you can infer the underlying concepts including developing your own ideas based on the passage. It is vital that all the reading skills that you have garnered so far be applied here whether it is assumptions, main ideas, usage of tone including the logic of reasoning.
Quick tip from our experiences! As we all know, analysis and comprehension are hard-won skills. You have to become an active reader. DO read different types of texts and digest what you are reading. You also should start building a study routine for reading CARS passages and answering practice questions the earliest possible.
