Differences between MCAT/BMAT/ UKCAT

Entrance admission tests are pretty confusing. Each country’s universities have their own way of evaluating and accepting students into their classes. However, for aspiring medical students in Thailand, there are 3 most common international medical entrance exams you should know; MCAT, UCAT and BMAT.

UCAT, formerly known as UKCAT, is a key requirement for most if not all the UK medical schools. It tests whether the applicants have the attitude, mental ability and professionalism needed in clinical careers.

BMAT is used by top medical schools in the UK (such as Oxbridge, UCL) including many of Thailand’s medical schools (such as Ramathibodi’s, Chulalongkorn’s) to test your scientific knowlege (IGCSE/A Level).

BMAT and UCAT both allow you to enter standard-entry medicine - the 5-6 year long programs that award MBBS or MBChB.

MCAT, on the other hand, opens door for graduates or degree's holders in any majors to pursue an MD in 4 years. The test focuses primarily on university level of scientific knowledge and critical skills. If you are an undergrad, or a graduate looking to change fields, then MCAT is your best choice and MEDI PREP is here to help you prep for the MCAT!
